Excerpts from this week's Message

"The Power of the Spirit: Being Prophetic & Prophesying"
by Apostle Stephen De Souza

Acts 1: 8  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2: 17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour

out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Jesus tells His disciples to wait for the promise of the Father - the Holy Spirit. He also tells them that they would receive supernatural power when they received Holy Spirit and that this power is for ministry. The primary purpose of Holy Spirit power is to engage in evangelism - winning the unsaved and unchurched to Christ - and to function effectively in ministry in general.

Peter tells us in Acts 2: 17-18 another reason for the power of the Spirit, that is, to prophesy. The scriptures state that when Holy Spirit comes upon God's people they will prophesy. The Holy Spirit power is given to make us a prophetic people.

Being prophetic means speaking and declaring God's Word over our lives, others , and situations. It is saying what God is saying. It is declaring the Logos word (Written Word - Bible) and the Rhema word (Spoken Word/ Prophetic Word). Being prophetic has to do with a way of life, where we constantly seek to align ourselves with the Word of God, and continue to speak and declare the Word of the Lord over everything that concerns us all the time.

Holy Spirit's connection to prophesying and the prophetic - the spoken word - is worthy of note. The Holy Spirit works with the spoken Word. At creation, "God said ... " and Holy Spirit made it happen as Father said it. A world of complete chaos was turned around to one of beauty and order all because "God said" - God spoke. Revolutionary and transitional things happen when the word of the Lord is released through our mouths.
