Excerpts from this week's Message

"Back to Basics: Returning to Pentecost"
by Apostle Stephen De Souza

Acts 1: 4 And, being assembled together with [them], commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, [saith he], ye have heard of me.

5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence .

Acts 2: 1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

Jesus told His disciples to wait for the promise. He was getting ready to launch the church and needed certain things to be in place for a successful launch.

He had spoken to them a word of promise - a word about the outpouring of Holy Spirit.  Jesus was reiterating what was first prophesied by Joel, the prophet in Joel 2: 28-29. The disciples were called upon to embrace,  believe and experience that word. Church has to do with believing, embracing and experiencing the  Word of God in our lives.

Today, many run on emotions, opinions of others, political correctness and the newly introduced woke culture. We must return to the Word of God as His people and as the church. The church got started with a "promise" - the Word of God. The Word of God must govern our lives for us to be strong and be able to deal with all the challenges that life and the devil will throw at us.

Jesus' disciples went to Jerusalem and waited with one accord for Holy Spirit to be poured out - for God to fulfill His promise (Word).  The Lord did fulfill His word by sending Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and His church was launched. The coming together of the saints in one accord was necessary for the outpouring of Holy Spirit and the church launch. Church has to do with the people of God assembling together in unity. The saints must connect to their local church. The devil has used the pandemic to separate and ostracize many of God's people from their local churches. Many have lost their desire to be in church or even to stay connected with the people that God had placed in their lives.

We must go back to the basics - return to Pentecost - return to the Word of God - return to the assembly and fellowship of the saints.
